So the military has now informed me that due to my language performance with french, they are posting me to a different part of the country.
So just as the novelty of Quebec was wearing off and I was beginning to despise the driving habits of the people and taxation by the province, I find out I get to leave.
I don't remember being happier for a very long time.
So, to Alberta I go in the last half of this year.
If any Albertans read this I'd love to hear some of the great things to do and things not to do in Wild Rose Country.
To enlighten myself and anybody else who gives a damn about the oil rich province, I have some interesting(relatively) information to follow.
- Albertans enjoy the lowest overall taxes in Canada.
- The first debt-free province in the country (what the provincial debts are from I don't know, nor do I care enough to find out).
- Capital is Edmonton although Calgary is larger. 5th and 3rd largest cities in the country respectively.
- It's lowest point is 152 meters above sea level. Making them pretty safe from global warming. Ironic I think.
That's it, there is nothing else remotely interesting about the province. Aside from it being english speaking and that excites me greatly :).

No, just No.
So I have a pet peeve that sometimes informs, other times infuriates, certain people.
The issue is when people call an item or consumer product by a different companies trademark name.
So I've decided to do my best at completing a list of all these wrongfully used names. If you know any I can add just leave a comment and I will add it to the list. Also if you see anything that needs correction please leave a friendly comment to help me with accuracy.
Actual product name - Common wrongfully used name - Manufacturer of commonly used name.
Facial/Soft Tissue - Kleenex - Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.
Hook and Loop - Velcro - Velcro Industries B.V.
Cotton Swabs - Q-tip - Unilever
Petroleum Jelly - Vaseline - Unilever
Locking Pliers - Vise-Grip - IRWIN TOOLS
Rotary Tool - Dremel - Robert Bosch Tool Corporation
Sticky Notes - Post-It Notes - 3M
Whipped Cream Topping - Cool Whip - Kraft Foods Holdings, Inc.

When you don't speak the local language.
So I'm an english guy living in Quebec. I know very little french and don't have much motivation to learn more(even though the military would like me to).
Other than obvious things like go for a walk, bike ride or drive. What can I do in this place for out-of-apartment enjoyment?
Also, meeting people is difficult.
Granted, most people around here know some english. So it's not impossible to meet people but
so far my ways to meet people have been limited to coworkers and other subaru drivers I find on the local forums.
I'm too shy to approach random people and I'm not one for clubs.
How have you met people after moving somewhere new?
How successful was your method(s)?
What would you do in my situation?

My New Blog
So look at me(above), I've started a blog.
Not so sure what to write about but I'll post what I can.
I'd like to post discussion topics and get peoples opinions on things not normally discussed or at least not easily found to have been discussed.
I'll be open to suggestions for discussions or other topics I should write about.
Want to know something about one of my interests? Ask me and I'll do my best to help you out. I'll do some research and use my experiences to give you the best feed back I can.
Otherwise, keep an eye out for jokes, stories or rants I may get the urge to post on here.
I hope you all have a good day. Stay positive :)
P.S. If you think I seem nice enough, do me a favour and click on an ad on the side. Thanks!
